What is material bending?
Material bending is one type of metal processing that involves permanently changing the shape of a material while maintaining its physical properties. There are the following types of bending: bending, bending, rolling, profiling and twisting. Bending of materials is performed using press brakes, rollers or by drawing. The choice of method and machine depends on what kind of part you want to obtain.

How do we do this?
In the case of presses, the material is placed in a die and shaped by the upper part of the press, the so-called punch, which is lowered with the appropriate speed and pressure. Presses perform a rectilinear and reciprocating motion. The steel sheet deforms under the influence of the pressing force. The basic ways of bending materials on presses include bending, folding and wrapping. Nowadays, press brakes with CNC numerical control are most commonly used. Technical parameters are automatically calculated by the system. This ensures precise bending of materials to the desired shape. CNC technology makes it possible to produce complex shapes and details. It guarantees speed, precision and repeatability. Repeatability makes it possible to use the CNC method for batch production, thus saving time and minimizing costs.

Material bending - purpose
The strength and versatility of steel sheet gives it a huge advantage over other types of building materials. It is very durable and resistant to environmental conditions. To assemble a finished industrial building, the individual components must first be made. Material bending makes it possible to make components such as sheet metal roofing, gutters, window sills, machine parts, structural components in the construction industry, machine components, car body components, components for the aircraft, petrochemical, shipbuilding, manufacturing industries, fencing components, as well as everyday objects. Material bending allows you to create components with a specific angle between 0° and 360°. More complex shapes, such as waves or rounds, can also be achieved.

Bending of materials on rolling mills is carried out in a rotating motion. The material deforms between rotating rollers. Their arrangement and shaping of the surfaces give the workpiece the intended shape. Either longitudinal rolling or transverse rolling (wrapping, straightening) is performed. The rolling method is used to produce bars, pipes, profiles, sections or tanks. Bending materials by drawing involves pulling the material through a specially shaped hole (drawing bar). This method makes it possible to produce pipes, rods, sections or sheet metal strips. The bending of materials involves three stages: elastic bending, plastic bending, and touchdown. In order for the shape made to be permanent and for the sheet metal not to deform, it is necessary to increase the pressure in the plastic bending and touch-up stages. It is necessary to exceed the elastic limit, which is different for each material.
